Asphalt 8 Airborne – The Ultimate Walkthrough Guide

My Asphalt 8 Airborne walkthrough guide aims to walk you all the way through to season 9 without spending a dime of real money and without grinding until your fingers bleed, sound good?

Note: I’ve decided to publish this guide as a work in progress. So as I complete each season I will add to it. This allows you to follow along and also provide your own tips and tricks in the comments below.

Thanks: I’d like to say a big thank you to TouchArcade member Bullwinkle. His strategy advice in regards to early car purchases was most helpful in producing this guide.

Thanks 2: I’d also like to say a big thank you to YouTube member Elite Hectorx. His videos really helped me to learn the fastest routes around the different tracks. If you want to see how a real pro drives, head over to his YouTube Channel.

Introduction

Asphalt 8 Airborne is one of the most popular arcade racers on mobile. If you don’t already have it on your iPhone, Android or Windows device, then you can grab it here:

Download on the App StoreDownload on Google PlayDownload from Windows Store

To get through to season 9 with as little grinding as possible means learning the shortest routes around each track, and purchasing only the cars that you really need to make progress.

We won’t be completing every single event in each series of the bat, but only those which allow us to open new events and stages without wasting credits. Later in the game when we have more credits and better cars we will return to complete the events that will help us to unlock season 9.

The aim of this guide is not to unlock every single car, that will take an age! But it will get you through to season 9 without spending on in-app purchases and with minimal grinding. Once you have reached season 9 the amount of credits awarded for each event is significantly higher than in the early seasons, making it much easier to rack up credits and purchase the cars that you desire or require.

I’d recommend playing everyday so that you get the daily credits bonus. This awards you up to 100% extra credits for your first race of the day. Even if don’t have time to play each day, just boot it up to avoid loosing the bonus as it takes 5 days to build it up to 100%.

Right, let’s get started!

Driving School

You can skip this section if you’ve played Asphalt before. If not, read on!

Tilt vs Touch Controls

You can turn faster with touch controls and are less likely to hit oncoming traffic due to a slow gyro reaction. However the tilt controls are a little more precise when it comes to hitting the ramps, especially with barrel rolls. I’d simply recommend going for the controls that give you the best lap times, right now I’m using tilt controls.

Maximum Stars

Each event offers a maximum of 5 stars. Usually it’s 3 stars for a win and 2 stars for performing in-game actions like barrel rolls, knockdowns or drifting a set distance. You’ll want to make sure you attain the maximum of 5 stars for each event in order to unlock further seasons.

Shortcuts

All tracks have a number of alternative routes, you’ll need to learn the shortest routes to get the quickest times. We’ll learn these later in the season walkthroughs.

Nitro

You will want to use nitro at every opportunity possible, but it gets depleted pretty fast! To fill your nitro you’ll need to execute some actions whilst racing, these include: drifting, jumps, flat spins, barrel rolls, knockdowns, city havocs, traffic control, near misses and perfect runs. You will also find nitro boosts lying around the tracks, the gold nitros will charge your nitro by 50%, whilst the blue nitros will charge it by 25%.

How to Take Tight Corners

Some corners are so tight you’ll end up in the wall even when drifting through them. But if you hit the nitro button this will keep you out of the walls and also increase your cornering speeds.

How to Drift

Drifting helps with tight corners and also restores your nitro. You can also use it to take down other cars. To start drifting simply tap the break button whilst turning. To cancel the drift you can either hit nitro, tap the break, or hold a straight line for a second or two.

How to do Flat Spins

Flat spins are great for building your nitro. To do them simply perform a drift just before you hit a ramp, you can do them off both angled and straight ramps.

How to do Barrel Rolls

Like flat spins, barrel rolls also help to restore your nitro. To perform a barrel roll you need to hit an angled ramp in just the right place. If you go either too high or too low on the ramp you won’t roll, or you may land on your roof in a wreck.

How to do a Perfect Run

A perfect run is when you drive for around 20 seconds without hitting any walls or other cars in the game. You can still however hit obstacles like lamp posts and phone boxes. A perfect run also gives your nitro a boost.

How to do a Perfect Nitro

If you hit the nitro button once, a small red section appears in the nitro bar at the top of the screen. If you then hit the nitro button a second time when the nitro marker is in the red section, you activate a perfect nitro, this is basically max power. Timing is the key here!

How to do Knockdowns

The easiest way to knockdown an opponent to by hitting them with your nitro activated. If you have depleted your nitro then sometimes pushing them into walls will do the trick, and also drifting into them.

What Does No Wrecks Mean?

No wrecks simply means getting form the start to the finish line of an event without wrecking your own car. However, you can still wreck other drivers cars.

Multiplayer

Multiplayer is bags of fun, but until you have mastered the tracks and learned the shortcuts wins will be difficult to achieve. Multiplayer mode also awards you with XP points that help you to level up. When you increase your level you are awarded more credits for race wins. Level 75 is the maximum level attainable.

So now let’s jump into season 1.

Season 1: Welcome

Season 1: Notes & Tips

  • This season is pretty easy, you shouldn’t struggle too much to win the races and you won’t need to grind to purchase the cars that you need.
  • You will have enough stars to unlock season 2 after completing part 6. But you’ll want to complete up to part 15 of season 1 to add to your star collection which will help you unlock further seasons.
  • Don’t purchase the Renault Clio R.S. 200 EDC in this season. It costs 45,000 credits which would involve a lot of grinding and these credits are better spent on other cars for now. This part can be completed later on.

Season 1: Cars

I’d recommend the following cars for this season:
Class D: Dodge Dart GT, Audi R8 e-tron, Tesla Model S,
Class C: Audi RS 3
Class B: Citroen Survolt

And I’d recommend purchasing them in this order:
1. Dodge Dart GT (This is a Freebie)
2. Audi R8 e-tron
3. Tesla Model S
4. Audi RS 3
5. Citroen Survolt

No upgrades are needed.

The following cars will be purchased later in the game, so don’t purchase them in this season: Renault Clio R.S. 200 EDC

Season 1: The Events

My recommended cars for each event are in brackets, but feel free to experiment! There are 16 parts/events in season 1 and a total of 75 stars on offer. Don’t waste credits on purchasing the Clio for part 16 right now, this can be completed later.

Season 1: Video Walkthroughs

Most videos show the shortest route around the tracks and the various achievements required, only when an achievement requires a different route will this be deviated from.

Season 2: More Than Racing

Season 2: Notes & Tips

  • In this season things start to heat up a little. If you don’t know the shortest routes around the various tracks, you might struggle to cross the line in first place.
  • You could purchase the Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA in this season. I went for the slightly slower Cadillac XTS because there is an event in season 3 that requires this car. But if you are struggling to win and don’t mind a little extra grinding then go for the Alfa Romeo MiTo as well, this will be bought in season 3 anyway.
  • I decided against purchasing the following cars for the model specific events till later on: Mini Cooper S Roadster, Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA, and the Lotus Evora Enduro GT. I’ve also left class A and S cars till later.

Season 2: Cars

I’d recommend the following cars for this season:
Class D: Cadillac ATS, Cadillac XTS
Class C: Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive, Audi TTS Coupe, Chevrolet Camaro GS

And I’d recommend purchasing them in this order:
1. Cadillac ATS
2. Audi TTS Coupe
3. Cadillac XTS
4. Chevrolet Camaro GS
5. Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Electric Drive

No upgrades are needed.

The following cars will be purchased later in the game, so don’t purchase them in this season unless you are struggling to win: The Mini Cooper S Roadster, Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA, and the Lotus Evora Enduro GT. Also leave the class A and S cars till later.

Season 2: The Events

My recommended cars for each event are in brackets, but feel free to experiment! There are 20 parts/events in season 2 and a total of 90 stars on offer.

Most videos show the shortest route around the tracks and the various achievements required, only when an achievement requires a different route will this be deviated from.

Season 3: Street Rules

Season 3: Notes & Tips

  • There are a lot of events in this season that require expensive cars to unlock, but don’t be tempted! We will come back and complete these later. For now it’s about winning as many stars as possible with the minimum number of cars.
  • As you will be buying the Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA in this season, you can now go back to Part 5 of Season 2 and complete the Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA VS Mini Cooper Event.

Season 3: Cars

I’d recommend the following cars for this season:
Class D: Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA
Class C: Lotus Exige S Roadster

And I’d recommend purchasing them in this order:
1. Alfa Romeo MiTo GTA
2. Lotus Exige S Roadster

No upgrades are needed at this point.

Season 3: Video Walkthroughs

Most videos show the shortest route around the tracks and the various achievements required, only when an achievement requires a different route will this be deviated from.

Season 4: Elite

Season 4: Notes & Tips

  • Although not necessary at this stage I decided to purchase the Scion FR-S in this Season just because it’s very cheap and it would allow me to complete the Scion FR-S specific event.
  • When you have bought the Audi S4 you can go back to Season 3 and complete Part 7.
  • When you have bought the Chevrolet Corvette C7 you can go back to Season 2 and complete Part 19.

Season 4: Cars

I’d recommend buying the following cars in this season:
Class D: Scion FR-S, Audi S4

Season 5: Injection

Season 5: Notes & Tips

  • You only really need to purchase one new class B car in this season. I went for the Ford Shelby GT500, although I was tempted by the Ferrari 458 Italia. But the Ford isn’t much more and also unlocks an event in Season 6, it should also be beneficial in later Class B events.
  • There are even more car specific events in this season, and the cars cost a fair chunk of cash! We’ll skip most of these for now.
  • For Part 8 the Audi S4 is not fast enough even with level 1 upgrades, therefore I decided to leave this event for the time being.

Season 5: Cars

I’d recommend buying the following car in this season:
Class B: Ford Shelby GT500

No upgrades are needed at this point.

Season 5: The Events

My recommended cars for each event are in brackets, but feel free to experiment! There are 34 parts/events in season 5 and a total of 150 stars on offer.

Season 5: Video Walkthroughs

Most videos show the shortest route around the tracks and the various achievements required, only when an achievement requires a different route will this be deviated from.

Season 6: Adrenaline

Season 6: Notes & Tips

  • You only need to purchase one new class S car in this season. I went for the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione. The Lamborghini Veneno is cheaper, but as I had enough credits I went with the faster car which should be well suited to later events where the Veneno might start to struggle. You should have enough credits for this car as you work your way through season 6 without needing to grind.
  • Once you have purchased the Ferrari FXX Evoluzione you can then go back and complete the Ferrari and class S events in seasons 5 and 2. In season 5 this will be parts: 23, 28, 30 and 31. And part 20 in season 2.
  • Just like in season 5, there are a lot of events here that we will be skipping and returning to later.

Season 6: Cars

I’d recommend buying the following car in this season:
Class S: Ferrari FXX Evoluzione

I upgraded the Audi S4 with level 1 upgrades for part 36. However, if you have a clean race you can probably get away with no upgrades for this event.

Season 6: The Events

My recommended cars for each event are in brackets, but feel free to experiment! There are 36 parts/events in season 6 and a total of 165 stars on offer.

Season 7: Heat

Season 7: Notes & Tips

  • Buy the end of this season you will have unlocked both season 8 and season 9!
  • I’d recommend just purchasing one car in this season, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento which is a Class A car. You should be able to afford this around halfway through the season.

Season 7: Cars

I’d recommend buying the following car in this season:
Class A: Lamborghini Sesto Elemento

Great help here. Sure would appreciate an update! Some of these cars are no longer in the game; and new seasons are out as well.
